Our University Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical Group, Promoting Comprehensive Integration of Industry and Education and Innovating the Talent Development Model in the Field of Medicine

On April 21st, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation framework agreement between our school and Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical Group (Fosun Pharmaceutical) and the launching ceremony of the collaborative education base for industry and education integration were held on Guangzhou University Town Campus. The ceremony was attended by Liu Sheng, Secretary of the University Party Committee, Zhai Lixiang, President of the University, Chen Yuqing, Joint CEO of Fosun Pharmaceutical and Chairman of Fosun Health, and Hu Hang, Senior Vice President of Fosun Pharmaceutical and President of Fosun Health. The ceremony was chaired by Zhai Lixiang, and speeches were given by Liu Sheng and Chen Yuqing.


Based on the principles of complementary advantages and win-win cooperation, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and Fosun Pharmaceutical will focus on deepening the reform of the talent development model and innovative research and development of products. We will integrate the talent resources of colleges and the R&D pipeline technology of pharmaceutical enterprises, and carry out practical cooperation in fields such as medical and health, talent development, scientific research collaboration, and student employment. Both parties will jointly build a collaborative education base for industry and education integration, innovate and construct a high-quality talent development system, promote the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and explore a new model of university-enterprise cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the area of medicine.

Liu Sheng conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of the school for the enduring care and support from Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical. He briefly highlighted the school's recent accomplishments in enhancing its internal development and pioneering new approaches to cultivate pharmaceutical talents in alignment with its educational mission. He emphasized the school's responsiveness to the needs of regional economic and social progress, which involved ongoing optimization of its disciplinary and professional framework. The school actively pursued diverse collaborative initiatives to integrate teaching, research, and industry, fostering a blend that consistently elevates the quality of self-directed talent cultivation. This collaboration signifies the joint commitment of academic institutions and pharmaceutical enterprises to uphold the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, thereby solidifying their foundational and strategic roles in the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist nation. The partnership serves as a significant milestone for leading pharmaceutical institutions in the Greater Bay Area and top international pharmaceutical companies, uniting them in their shared pursuit of the "Healthy China" strategy. It is envisaged that this signing ceremony will mark the beginning of a long-term collaborative mechanism, where both parties leverage their respective strengths and distinctive features to foster comprehensive and profound cooperation. At the same time, they aim to establish a new model of school-enterprise partnership in the era of innovation, contributing significantly to the advancement of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.

As the host, Zhai Lixiang affirmed that this strategic collaboration exemplifies the earnest implementation of the Guangdong Provincial Conference on High-Quality Development. It demonstrates a deepened reform of higher education supply-side and an active promotion of extensive cooperation and exchange between academia, industry, and research. Seizing the strategic opportunities presented by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the collaboration maintains a steadfast commitment to prioritize the health and well-being of the people, actively exploring new models of school-enterprise cooperation, integrating industry and education, fostering mutually beneficial outcomes, and establishing a virtuous cycle of talent cultivation.

In Chen Yuqing’s address, he provided a succinct overview of Fosun Pharmaceutical's development profile and expressed optimistic expectations for the strategic collaboration. He emphasized that this partnership would greatly empower Fosun Health's medical service capabilities in the Greater Bay Area. Recognizing the significance of university talent resources as a vital foundation for innovative development in the pharmaceutical industry, he stressed the pivotal role of innovative pharmaceutical talent cultivation in achieving high-quality integration of industry and education. Fosun Pharmaceutical commits to strengthening cooperation with Guangdong Pharmaceutical University(GDPU), aligning talent cultivation with industry applications, and establishing a "School-Enterprise Integration and Collaborative Talent Cultivation Base" as well as a "Joint Graduate Training Base." They will proactively explore collaboration in talent cultivation, technological innovation, product research and development, achievement transformation, and the enhancement of medical service capabilities, ultimately ensuring resonance between talent cultivation and industrial development. Through joint efforts, they aim to foster continuous innovation in the model of industry-academia integration for pharmaceutical talent cultivation.

During the meeting, Hu Hang delivered a keynote report titled "Development Report on School-Enterprise Cooperation: Fosun Pharmaceutical's Practice." The report covered various compelling topics, including industrial artificial intelligence, driving innovation in enterprise research and development technologies, facilitating the transformation of achievements, optimizing systems, innovating cooperation forms, and leveraging the resources and advantages of universities and pharmaceutical enterprises to embark on comprehensive cooperation in industry, academia, and research.
The ceremony was attended by leaders of GDPU, relevant department heads, members of the university's thematic education reading group, and leaders from Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group), who witnessed and participated in this momentous event.
