In its early days, the Provincial Cadre College of Advanced Studies was located on Xianlie South Road. Initially, it temporarily used the premises at No. 409 Huifu West Road as its campus. In early 1959, it relocated to Xianlie South Road. In August 1960, the Health Specialty Class merged with the Provincial Medical School to form the Health Department of the College of Advanced Studies.

In December 1961,  Guangdong Health Cadres Advanced Training College

The Guangdong Health Cadres College, Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Medical School, and Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Health School were merged into Guangdong Provincial Health School. The institution was suspended and later resumed as Guangdong Health Cadres Advanced Training College in 1981.

On March 4, 2016, the Ministry of Education issued a letter (Edu. Letter [2016] No. 45) approving the official name change of our university to Guangdong Pharmaceutical University.
