Mr. Jiang Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Drug Supervision, led a delegation to research and discuss the new blueprint for high-level cooperation between the administration and the university


In order to thoroughly implement the theme education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping's ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and to implement the work arrangements of the National Medical Products Administration regarding scientific research on drug supervision and strengthening the training of professional talents, the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Drug Supervision, led by Mr. Jiang Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Group and Director, along with Mr. Fang Wei, Party Member and Deputy Director, visited our university in the Guangzhou University Town Campus on the morning of May 5th for investigation and research. Mr. Liu Sheng, Secretary of the University Party Committee, Mr. Zhai Lixiang, President, and Mr. Xiao Wei, Vice President, accompanied the delegation, and a symposium was held. The symposium was chaired by Mr. Zhai Lixiang.



During the symposium, Mr. Liu Sheng and Mr. Zhai Lixiang warmly welcomed the visit of Director Jiang Xiaodong and his delegation, expressing sincere gratitude for the continuous concern and support of the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Drug Supervision for the development of our university. Mr. Liu Sheng introduced the development history and general situation of the university, pointing out that in recent years, the university has adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping's ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, earnestly implemented the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, adhered to the fundamental task of moral education and talent cultivation, proactively aligned with the national regional economic and social development strategies, leveraged the advantages of disciplinary specialties, deepened the integration of industry, academia, and research to nurture talents, promoted the integrated development of the medical and pharmaceutical industry chain, and achieved remarkable results. The university has been authorized to confer doctoral degrees, forming a complete talent cultivation chain from bachelor to doctoral degrees. The university has jointly established the Traditional Chinese Medicine Modern Industry College with the Yunfu Municipal Government, Kangzhi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Junan Group, as well as the Digitalized Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry College with the Guangdong Pharmaceutical Group and Caizhilin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The university continuously innovates its talent cultivation models and has become a cradle for outstanding talents and entrepreneurs in the medical and pharmaceutical industry in Guangdong Province, making significant contributions to the development of the healthcare industry and medical technology innovation in South China. Mr. Liu Sheng expressed the hope that the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Drug Supervision will continue to support the university's reform and development, promote collaborative construction and resource sharing between the administration and the university, deepen practical cooperation in pharmaceutical technology platform construction, talent cultivation, social services, cultural inheritance, and contribute together to the practice of China's modernization in Guangdong.


Mr. Jiang Xiaodong praised and affirmed our achievements in running the university and its contributions to regional economic and social development, as well as the development of the medical and healthcare industry. He expressed that the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Drug Supervision will further deepen communication and cooperation with the university. Firstly, it will leverage the advantages and resources of both parties to establish comprehensive strategic cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation, and social services, aiming to promote the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry in Guangdong and the drug regulatory capabilities reaching an advanced international level. Secondly, it will make use of the advantages of Guangdong's large-scale pharmaceutical industry and solid foundation, enhance the cultivation of research-oriented and skill-oriented talents in multiple disciplines such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics, and better adapt to the needs of high-quality industrial development. Thirdly, it will harness the advantages of the major disciplines in the field of health and pharmacy, strengthen cooperation in research-oriented and practical projects, conduct in-depth scientific research in regulatory matters, accelerate the development of new regulatory tools, standards, and methods, and promote the transformation of innovative achievements and the improvement of regulatory quality, jointly driving the construction of a demonstration zone for drug safety governance and high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry in Guangdong.

During the symposium, responsible faculty members from the university's Department of Science and Technology, Department of Academic Affairs, and Continuing Education College provided detailed introductions on the transformation of scientific research achievements, drug supervision research, talent cultivation, and non-degree education and training. The two parties present at the symposium had in-depth discussions and exchanges on how to give full play to their respective advantages and vigorously promote the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry in Guangdong and the South China region.



Mr. Jiang Xiaodong and his delegation also visited the Key Laboratory of Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolism under the Ministry of Education at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, gaining a deep understanding of the important breakthroughs achieved in the theory, clinical practice, basic research, and translational research of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for the prevention and treatment of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism disorders. They inquired about the progress of drug research and development and the key issues concerning registration and market launch of new drugs, providing guidance for accelerating the transformation of laboratory research achievements. Mr. Miao Zhibin, Director of the Department of Regulations and Science and Technology of the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Drug Supervision, Ms. Cai Ping, Deputy Researcher of the Department of Regulations and Science and Technology, and Mr. Cheng Zhaohui, Deputy Director of the Office, as well as representatives from various departments within the university, including the Party and Administration Office, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Development Planning, Department of Human Resources, Graduate School, Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute, School of Pharmaceutical Business, School of Continuing Education, Academic Affairs Office, and School of Clinical Pharmacy, also participated in the discussion session.
